US Reduces Aid to Armenia and Provides None to Artsakh
The US is reducing aid to Armenia and not providing any to Artsakh. This was reported by the Armenian National Committee of America.
It is planned to allocate only $24 million to Armenia. This figure is $21 million less than the amount that Congress approved a few weeks ago for the fiscal year 2022.
“We are disappointed that President Biden's annual budget, released following the government report indicating over $164 million in military aid to Azerbaijan, balances Armenia's support at just over $24 million and does not include any specific funds to help Artsakh,” said Aram Hambaryan, executive director of the Armenian National Committee of America.
Hambaryan added that they expect their colleagues in Congress and community activists to work towards ensuring aid is provided to both Artsakh and Armenia.
It is noted that Biden's 2023 budget includes $23,405,000 in foreign aid and $600,000 in military assistance to Armenia.
