Stepanavan Tunnel Road Reopened After Avalanche Closure

Yesterday, extensive work continued throughout the night until early morning, successfully reopening the Vanadzor-Stepanavan highway.

According to Shamshyan.com, the avalanche that blocked the road reached heights of 8-12 meters, extending 60 meters in length and 7 meters in width. Heavy machinery was used to remove several tons of snow from the affected area.

The municipalities of Stepanavan and Vanadzor provided one JCB tractor each to assist in the efforts. From the very beginning, rescuers carried out reconnaissance operations, and fortunately, there were no reported injuries.

Work is currently ongoing.
