Interesting Developments in the Closure of the Criminal Case Related to March 1
According to the newspaper "Zhoghovurd", the process of closing the criminal case related to March 1, led by the Deputy Head of the Criminal Intelligence Department, Hovhannes Tamamyan, is in a rather intriguing situation. Based on the information we have received, he stated in the Committee that he does not accept the charges, but added: "You have brought it to such a state that there is no other way out. Close it, let’s be done with it."
"Zhoghovurd" previously reported that the Anti-Corruption Committee has closed the criminal case against Hovhannes Tamamyan, Deputy Head of the Criminal Intelligence Department of the Police, concerning March 1.
It is noteworthy that within the framework of the criminal case, the Special Investigation Service had identified officials of the RA Police, including the Deputy Chief of Police Sashik Afyan, Hovhannes Tamamyan, the Head of the Department for Combating Organized Crime, the Deputy Chief of the RA Police Troops, the Head of the Operational Division Arthur Dastakovy, the Head of the Criminal Intelligence Department Hayk Militonyan, Police Chief Hayk Harutyunyan, the Head of the Yerevan Police Department Nerses Nazaryan, and the leader of the investigative group Vahagn Harutunyan, specifying the particular functions they performed.
Some of the aforementioned officials accepted their guilt, leading to the closure of the criminal cases against them based on the statute of limitations. In particular, the case against former Deputy Chief of Police Sashik Afyan was closed. The case against Hovhannes Tamamyan has also been closed.
