How Marukyan's First 'Test' Went: 'Fact'
The newspaper 'Fact' reports that a summit of leaders from EU and NATO member states was convened in Brussels. It is clear that the main topic is the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. However, such large gatherings can serve as vital platforms for conveying to the international community the current developments in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, including Azerbaijan's policy of ethnic cleansing in Artsakh, the resulting humanitarian crisis, the crimes committed by Baku against the civilian population, the glaring manifestations of cultural genocide, as well as the fact that a year and a half after the war, Armenian prisoners of war are still being held in Azerbaijan.
'Fact' newspaper’s diplomatic sources note that from this perspective, the Brussels summit was a preliminary 'test' for the newly appointed special representative Edmon Marukyan, as this was his first official visit since his appointment. According to our information, despite the fact that the main topic was the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, it did not prevent Marukyan from successfully presenting the issues concerning Artsakh and Azerbaijan's terrorist behavior, stating that the war in Artsakh has not actually ended. Moreover, we have information that there were quite a few individual meetings with leaders of various political parties from EU countries, as well as representatives of opinion-forming institutions and forces.
