Urgent Letter to US and French Ambassadors in Armenia by Taguhi Tovmasyan
I have sent an urgent letter to the US and French ambassadors in Armenia, drawing their attention to the fact that Azerbaijan is grossly violating the provisions of the trilateral statement of November 9, 2020, of which I have personally been a witness in Artsakh. This was reported by Taguhi Tovmasyan, a member of the 'Honorary' faction, on her Facebook page.
"I specifically presented to the ambassadors that since March 24, the Azerbaijani Armed Forces have invaded the Parukh community of the Askeran region, seized the settlement, and taken control of adjacent positions, trying to secure advances in the eastern border zone of the Republic of Artsakh, as a result of which: - The ceasefire regime has been violated, with Azerbaijan applying various caliber firearms as well as strike drones, including 'Bayraktar TB-2' type; - The Russian peacekeeping forces managed to stop the advance of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, yet the Azerbaijani forces have not returned to their initial positions; - Three contract servicemen of the Defense Army have been killed, and 14 individuals have sustained varying degrees of injuries; - The right to life of the residents of Parukh village has been violated, with people being deprived of their right to live in peace in their homeland and to live safely, moreover, we have newly displaced peaceful residents due to these actions.
Based on the above, I have asked for a public assessment from the ambassadors of the co-chairing countries of the OSCE Minsk Group in Armenia to condemn Azerbaijan's criminal actions and the gross violations of international humanitarian law. At the same time, I urged them to take all possible measures to prevent Azerbaijan's genocidal policies and ethnic cleansing being carried out in Artsakh. The people in Artsakh want to live in peace, and a public voice will help ensure that there are no new massacres and genocides.
