MP Armen Khachatryan on His Dance and Related Criticisms
MP Armen Khachatryan from the 'My Step' faction of the National Assembly addressed criticism directed at him on Facebook following a video of his dancing that circulated online.
The parliamentarian specifically stated:
"The songs 'Getashen' and 'You are Going to War, Go with Honor' are the anthems from our service times that have always inspired us. Since 1995, we have sung these songs nearly every day for five years, serving and learning under them. Even today, wherever we are, if these songs play, my fellow servicemen and I stand up and often dance in a circle because they represent special value to us.
This is not contempt for the difficult situations created, but a stand against them, overcoming, and inspiration. The event shown in the video mostly includes my fellow servicemen, officers who have contributed to the country's development, who have silently served the country, defended the homeland, and suffered losses. As long as there are wars, patriotic military songs will resonate, and generations will be raised with them, while my friends and I will stand every time the sounds of 'Getashen' and 'You are Going to War, Go with Honor' resonate. It is our history, our path, and our future.
I do not address certain media outlets and their owners, but one question: what are you busy with these days? As always, you are once again stirring up trouble."
It is worth reminding that the video of the MP dancing at a celebration in Artsakh has faced considerable criticism, especially against the backdrop of enemy advances, humanitarian hardships, and losses on the Armenian side.
According to some users, Khachatryan, as a public figure and state official, should be focusing on resolving the current situation in the country together with his colleagues.
