Zelensky's Call to Resource-Rich Countries to Increase Energy Production

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has called on energy-rich countries to boost oil and natural gas production to respond to the loss of Russian supplies amid sanctions imposed on Russia, as reported by AP.

Zelensky made his remarks via an unexpected video address at a conference in Doha.

The Ukrainian president urged countries to increase energy exports, which is particularly crucial as Qatar is a global leader in natural gas exports. Western sanctions have significantly reduced Russian exports, which are vital for European countries.

“Responsible nations, particularly the state of Qatar, you are reliable and reputable suppliers of energy resources,” Zelensky stated. “And you can contribute to stabilizing the situation in Europe. A lot can be done to restore justice.”

He added, “The future of Europe depends on your efforts. I urge you to increase energy production so that Russia understands that no nation should use energy as a weapon and hold the world to ransom.”
