Macron on Demand to Pay for Gas in Rubles
The demand from Russia to pay for gas in rubles violates the terms of the contract. This was stated by French President Emmanuel Macron, according to Reuters.
“Payment for Russian gas should be made in the currency agreed upon in the contract,” Macron said, referring to the euro.
Earlier, Putin announced that Russia would accept payments in rubles for gas supplied to Europe.
