Russian Peacekeepers Fail to Resolve Main Issue of Their Mission: Artsakh Information Headquarters
The Artsakh Information Headquarters has issued a statement, which in particular notes: “As already reported by the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Artsakh, today, on March 25, the Armenian side has suffered casualties, including 2 deaths and several injured as a result of strikes by Azerbaijani armed forces using Bayraktar-type UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles). Last night, there were also 5 injured.
Thus, Azerbaijan grossly violates the provisions of the trilateral statement of November 9, 2020, both in terms of invasion and ceasefire regime violations. Despite high-level negotiations, we note that the Russian peacekeeping forces stationed in Artsakh have only been able to halt the advance of the Azerbaijani armed forces in the Parukh community of the Askeran region and the firing from various caliber weapons by them. However, at the same time, we emphasize that the Russian peacekeeping forces have not been able to resolve the main issue within the framework of their mission, as Azerbaijani troops that invaded the Parukh village and adjacent areas of the Askeran region on March 24 continue to remain in those locations.
The authorities of Artsakh, however, express hope that with the decisive efforts of the Russian side, it will be possible to return the Azerbaijani troops to their initial positions and return the peaceful population of Artsakh to their homes; otherwise, the security guarantees provided to the peaceful population living in Artsakh will be seriously questioned.”
