Tragic Car Accident in Ararat Province: 8-Year-Old Boy Dies, Several Injured

Today, on March 24, a major and tragic car accident occurred in Ararat Province. Around 2:00 AM, at the 4th kilometer of the Masis-Ejmiadzin highway, at the intersection near the villages of Nizami and Sayat-Nova, a 30-year-old resident of Yerevan, Baghdasar G., lost control of his Opel Vectra vehicle, veering left out of the driving lane. He collided with a metal support of a gas pipe, breaking it, and then continued on to hit a memorial stone, damaging it as well before overturning.

According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan at the scene, both the driver, Baghdasar G., and passenger Syuzanna H. were transported with injuries to the “Erebuni” medical center, while two other passengers—26-year-old Anna G. from Armavir Province and 8-year-old Aleks G. from Yerevan—were taken to the “Holy Mother of God” medical center. Unfortunately, on the way to the hospital, Aleks G. did not regain consciousness and passed away.

The photojournalist reported that a similar tragic accident had taken place on February 23, 2016, in the same area, resulting in the deaths of three young individuals, one of whom was a soldier, prompting the installation of the broken memorial stone in their memory.
