Lifelong Inmate Tatul Mirzoyan Becomes World Record Holder
Under the initiative of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia, the "Nubarashen" penitentiary institution's social, psychological, and legal work division, along with the public organization "The Strongest Book" and the Armenian Powerlifting Federation, a record registration event was held featuring lifelong inmate Tatul Mirzoyan.
T. Mirzoyan set a world record by performing a single repetition of a 150 kg barbell push-up from a lying position, and in 1 minute and 6 seconds, he completed 35 repetitions of a 80 kg weight push-up from the same position, establishing a new record in The Strongest Book. His name has been registered once again in this record book, according to the Penitentiary Service.
Mirzoyan dedicated his world record to soldiers who were disabled during the 44-day war and his record in The Strongest Book to the fallen Armenian heroes.
The event was attended by the administration of the institution, led by the head of the facility, Justice Colonel Karen Khachatryan, representatives from the central body of the Penitentiary Service, the president of the public organization "The Strongest Book," Honored Coach of Armenia Vardan Tovmasyan, and the founding president of the Armenian Powerlifting Federation, Honored Coach of Sports Gagik Saroyan.
Institution head Karen Khachatryan congratulated the record holder, wishing him new victories and added that the institution's administration is ready to support any inmate who expresses a desire to participate in such sports events.
It is noted that Tatul Mirzoyan has previously set records in stone lifting.
