European Satellite Monitoring Russia Remains Unrecoverable
The Copernicus program's Sentinel-1B radar satellite, used for monitoring Russian territory, has still not been restored.
According to SpaceNews, work to identify issues related to the satellite's main and backup power supply systems is ongoing, but the primary cause of the anomaly—the inability to obtain radar images in the centimeter wavelength range—has yet to be found. Currently, 18 potential causes for the satellite's power failure are being investigated.
The European Space Agency is considering the possibility of launching the Sentinel-1C satellite to replace Sentinel-1B, but the spacecraft will not be ready for launch until October.
