The Issue of Artsakh Is Not Closed: Armenian Delegates to Azerbaijanis

Recently, the Congress of the Council of Europe acknowledged the results of the monitoring of the recent local self-government elections held in Armenia. Thanks to the efforts of our foreign affairs ministry, particularly the Council of Europe’s representation in Armenia, important formulations regarding Artsakh have been included in the report, which naturally caused dissatisfaction among the Azerbaijani delegates.

This was noted by David Khajakyan, a member of the governing council of the LHK and a member of the Yerevan city council, on his Facebook page. He specifically mentioned, “Throughout this period, I remembered the statements of those opposition figures trying to convince the public that the official position of the Republic of Armenia no longer includes the issue of protecting Artsakh’s interests. Our Armenian delegates responded to the remarks made by the Azerbaijani delegate while discussing the local elections, asserting that the term ‘Nagorno-Karabakh’ in the report is accurate and that the issue of Artsakh is not closed.”
