Germany Opposes the Establishment of a No-Fly Zone Over Ukraine, Says Scholz

NATO should not become a party to the conflict around Ukraine; Germany is against the establishment of a no-fly zone over the country. This was stated by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz during a speech in the Bundestag on Wednesday, as reported by TASS.

“Of course, I hear the voices calling for a no-fly zone or for NATO peacekeeping troops to be sent to Ukraine. No matter how difficult it may be, we will not give in to that,” said the Social Democrat.

“NATO will not become a party to the war; we agree on this with our European allies and the United States,” he added.

Scholz noted that thus far it has been possible to prevent direct conflict between NATO and Russia. “This must remain the case,” the Chancellor emphasized. Meanwhile, he stated that Ukraine can rely on Germany's assistance.

It is reminded that on the morning of February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the start of a special military operation for the demilitarization of Ukraine.
