Zelensky Announces Readiness to Discuss Crimea and Donbas Issues with Putin

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has announced that he is ready to discuss the issues of Crimea and Donbas with Russian President Vladimir Putin, although he admitted that success is unlikely to be achieved during their first meeting.

“I am ready to raise these issues at the very first meeting with the President of Russia; they are relevant and crucial for us,” Zelensky’s statement was quoted by RIA Novosti.

According to him, a decision will be made “not at this meeting.” Earlier, Zelensky had stated that he was open to negotiations with Putin, warning that a failed conversation could pose a risk of starting a Third World War.

He also emphasized that Ukraine cannot agree to the loss of sovereignty and territorial integrity. The head of the Russian delegation and presidential aide, Vladimir Medinsky, highlighted that discussions about a potential meeting between Putin and Zelensky could only take place after the confirmation of the text of the treaty between the two countries.
