Video: Aleksanyan Given Role of Kamikaze, Let Him Manage – Tensions Rise in Parliament
It is extremely difficult to argue with someone who read about Key West at the age of 9. This was stated today, May 22, during his speech in Parliament regarding the remarks of ruling party member Vahagn Aleksanyan, by Gegham Manukyan, a member of the "Armenia" faction and representative of the ARF.
"They talk about Bayraktars, there is a type of aircraft called kamikaze. They strike, but they blow themselves up as well. Now there is a role distribution – he has been given the role of kamikaze, let him manage it! They can explode like a balloon," he stated.
Referring to the bill under discussion, which imposes criminal liability on those who question the territorial integrity of the country, Gegham Manukyan said, "Actually, this bill is based on a bit of madness, whether anyone in Armenia could publicly express views against our territorial integrity, our sovereignty. There is a formulation known as the Overton Window, where an unacceptable idea begins to be discussed. After long discussions, it eventually becomes public sentiment. A few years ago, one could say that there was no point in such a bill, but with the Overton Window, topics that were previously off-limits are now becoming subject to free debate in Armenia. Three years ago, would you have thought that a member of Parliament could question the sovereignty of Artsakh and insult it in the most pro-Turkish manner? Could we have imagined that today the person holding the position of Prime Minister would cast doubt on Armenia’s obligations for the international recognition of genocide? Dear residents of Tavush, could we have imagined that a day would come when members of Parliament would attempt to bring some justifications that this or that village in Tavush is Azerbaijani? This law is for all of this. All these facts convey that as long as this political majority exists, anything is possible."
