VIDEO: I Wasn't Really Smiling, Mizoyan on Meeting with Cavusoglu

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, Ararat Mirzoyan, asserts that he was not particularly smiling during the meeting with Mevlut Cavusoglu.

Gagik Nazaryan, a member of the National Assembly from the 'Armenia' faction, asked Mirzoyan, "When you were smiling broadly with Cavusoglu, what did you want to convey to the international community and to the parents? Of course, I understand that any smile can occur in an emotional context." In response to Nazaryan's question, Mirzoyan noted that almost all such meetings feature smiles on the faces of diplomats or delegations, which can be seen even more prominently in previous years, before the 2018 revolution, on the faces of high-ranking officials representing Armenia.

“Perhaps, when comparing those smiles, you may get the impression that I wasn’t really smiling. There are no grounds for comparison in this regard,” stated Ararat Mirzoyan, adding that from the same perspective, those smiles could also reflect attitudes toward the parents of the victims from the first war as well as those who died under the conditions of relative ceasefire.
