‘In time they will understand what is happening’: Peskov speaks about the opinions of Russian citizens
The number of citizens in Russia who do not support the decision to carry out a special military operation in Ukraine is small, stated Dmitry Peskov, the spokesperson for the President of Russia, during a press briefing. He added that over time, these citizens will understand what is happening.
“The number of Russian citizens who do not support the decision to conduct a special military operation in Ukraine is minimal; the overwhelming majority of citizens, over 75 percent, support the conduct of this operation and back the actions of President Vladimir Putin,” said the Kremlin representative.
According to him, the presented data is verified and substantiated. “People are actively being educated about the objectives and reasons for this operation. We hope that those who disagree will understand what is happening. It is very important that those who do not agree begin to orient themselves regarding the large flow of misinformation coming from the West and realize that not everything presented in the news is accurate,” Peskov stated.
The spokesperson also noted that citizens who view the operation as wrong comprise less than 25 percent of the Russian population. “Undoubtedly, their opinions are listened to, but nevertheless, the minority remains a minority,” said Peskov.
