Blizzard and Snow, Closed and Impassable Roads in Armenia
The Ministry of Emergency Situations reports that there are closed and impassable roads throughout Armenia. Due to weather conditions, it is advised to travel only if absolutely necessary.
The roads from the high-altitude meteorological station "Ambert" in Aragatsotn Province to the Amberd Fortress and Kar Lake are closed, as well as the Vardenyats Pass, Berd-Chambarak, the Gndevaz-Jermuk route in Vayots Dzor Province, the Tzoghamarg-Bavra road in Shirak Province, and inter-community roads in the regions of Ashotzk and Aragatsotn.
The Vayk-Sisian-Goris-Kapan road is closed for trucks, and impassable for passenger vehicles (one-way traffic only). The roads from Vanadzor to Dilijan, Vanadzor to Alaverdi in Lori Province, the roads from Ijevan city to Bagratashen and Novberyan to Kiran in Tavush Province are closed to trucks with trailers, while other types of vehicles find it impassable.
The switchbacks in Lori Province, the Alaverdi-Jilise and Tashir-Blagodarnoye roads, as well as the intercommunity roads in Syunik and Aragatsotn Provinces, are impassable for all types of vehicles.
The Saravan-Zanger road is impassable for all types of vehicles, and for trucks with trailers mainly under the use of chains.
There is black ice on some of the roads in the Aragats region of Aragatsotn Province, while snow is reported in the Tigranashen twist in Ararat Province and a blizzard on the Aragyugh-Medical road in Kotayk Province.
