Any agreement reached in negotiations with Putin will be put to a referendum: Zelensky
To end the war with Russia, any potential agreement reached in peace negotiations will be presented to the Ukrainian people via a referendum. This was stated by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in an interview with local media, as reported by forbes.ru.
“I am ready to do whatever is necessary if our people support my decisions,” Zelensky added, asserting his view that meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in any format is essential to halt military actions.
“I believe it is impossible to fully understand what they will agree to in order to cease the war without this meeting,” Zelensky said. It is noteworthy that Zelensky mentioned he is prepared to discuss the recognition of Donbas and Crimea in exchange for security guarantees.
Zelensky stated: “Honestly, when it comes to security guarantees, we will talk about constitutional changes, changes in Ukrainian legislation, and if we discuss this, it will be determined not only by the president but also by the Rada and the Ukrainian people.”
