Azerbaijan Publicly Declares Rejection of Proposal Without Substantive Discussions: Mirzoyan

During the meeting of the National Assembly’s Foreign Relations Committee, Armenia's Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan addressed the topics of border delimitation and demarcation, among other issues.

“On November 26, 2021, in Sochi, a statement was signed between the Prime Minister of Armenia and the Presidents of Russia and Azerbaijan, stating that the parties agreed to take steps to enhance the level of security and stability along the Armenian-Azerbaijani border and to establish a bilateral commission for border delimitation and demarcation. Our government is actively working to implement this agreement and has put forward a practical package of proposals,” said Mirzoyan.

The minister recalled that the principles behind these proposals are based on the mirror withdrawal of Armenian and Azerbaijani troops and the replacement of those forces with border guard service. “Azerbaijan has publicly stated, without entering into substantive discussions, that it rejects this proposal. There has been no further progress on this matter, but we continue our work. What is essential here is the inviolability of borders, the commitment to ensure further stability, and the safety of the residents,” emphasized the Armenian Foreign Minister.
