Roads Closed and Impassable in Armenia

The Ministry of Emergency Situations informs that there are closed and impassable roads in the territory of Armenia.

The following roads are closed:

  • The road from the "Amberd" high mountain meteorological station in the Aragatsotn region to Amberd Fortress and Kari Lake.
  • Vardenyats Pass.
  • The spurs of Spitak.
  • Berd-Chambarak.
  • Vanadzor-Dilijan (due to poor visibility).
  • Saravan-"Zanger".
  • Jermuk-Gndevaz in the Vayots Dzor region.
  • Sisian-"Zanger" in the Syunik region.
  • Lanjar-Lusahogh in the Ararat region.
  • Medz Sariar-Krashen-Lernut-Jajuravan, Artik-Nahapetavan, Artik-Anushavan, and Artik-Geghani in the Shirak region.
  • Intercommunity roads in Aragatsotn region, particularly in Aragats and Gegharkunik region.
  • The road from Toros village to Amasia.
  • The road from Tsoghamarg village to Bavra.

In the Tavush region, the road from Dilijan's spurs to Bagratashen is closed only for trucks with trailers, while other types of vehicles are difficult to navigate (depending on tire chains).

The following roads are also difficult to navigate:

  • Pushkin mountain pass to Stepanavan in the Lori region.
  • Intercommunity roads in Syunik and Aragatsotn regions.
  • Ashotsk and Amasia regions in the Shirak region.
  • Amasia-Vojgi, Amasia-Kaps, Alagyaz-Artik, Jajur-Keti, and Artik-Mantash roads.

In Syunik province, the Goris-Tatev and Kapan-Tatev roads are passable for trucks with trailers only if tire chains are used.

There is black ice on the roads in the regions of Aparan, Aragats, and Talin in the Aragatsotn region.

In Gegharkunik, as well as in the Aragats and Aparan regions of Aragatsotn, and in the Ashotsk, Artik, Maralik, and Amasia regions of Shirak, there is also snowfall observed. Blizzards are reported in the mountainous areas of Vayots Dzor.

Snowfall continues in Lori, Syunik, Tavush, and Ararat regions, as well as in the Talin, Aparan, and Aragats regions of Aragatsotn.

Regarding Lars: According to information received from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia and the crisis management center of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations in North Ossetia, the Stepantsminda-Lars road is closed. There are approximately 400 trucks on the Russian side. Drivers are advised to travel exclusively with winter tires.
