Initial Plan for Russian Military to Occupy Our Country Fails: Zelensky Makes New Statements
The tactics of Russian troops in Ukraine are leading to a worsening situation right in Russia, which is why negotiations around peace and security are Moscow's only opportunity to mitigate the damage from its own mistakes. This was stated by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, in his video address, as reported by Ukrinform.
“The initial plan of Russian soldiers to occupy our country has failed. And they seem to not know what else they can do to us. Their military commanders appear unable to propose anything to their political leadership other than a brutal and misguided tactic aimed at exhausting us, exhausting Ukraine. Besides constant strikes on peaceful civilians, peaceful cities, people, and children, there is nothing but attacks from missiles, aerial bombs, Grad and Uragan shelling, targeting civilian infrastructure—residential buildings, hospitals, schools, churches,” Zelensky said.
“However, these military tactics of theirs are only intensifying the situation for the Russian state, leading to new and devastating sanctions, prompting new members to join our anti-war coalition, and enabling even those states that have always tried to remain neutral to unite against Russia,” he added.
“Thus, negotiations for peace, which are meaningful, honest, and without delay for us, for Ukraine, are Moscow's only opportunity to reduce the damage from its mistakes,” Zelensky stated.
The president emphasized that Ukraine has always insisted on negotiations and dialogue, offering solutions for peace. “And I want everyone to hear me now, especially in Moscow. It is time to meet. It is time to talk. It is time to restore Ukraine's territorial integrity and justice. Otherwise, Russia’s losses will be such that it will take several generations to recover,” Zelensky warned.
He drew attention to a significant detail from the rally held in Moscow. “Just imagine that there are 14 thousand corpses and tens of thousands of wounded and disabled in that Moscow stadium. The Russian side has suffered that many losses in this invasion. This is the price of war. In about three weeks. The war must end; Ukraine's proposals are on the table,” Zelensky concluded.
He added that in the coming days, he will continue to appeal to the world's nations for peace for Ukraine. There are planned appeals and speeches directed at the Swiss people and government, and addresses are anticipated for Israel, Italy, and Japan.
