Foreign Ministry of Artsakh Condemns Ceremony in Shushi

The Foreign Ministry of Artsakh has strongly condemned the holding of an event in Shushi dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Azerbaijan's membership in the United Nations. The statement from the Artsakh Foreign Ministry addresses Azerbaijan's actions.

At the same time, the ministry notes that Baku continues its destructive policy, consistent with its style, aimed at legitimizing the results of its aggression against Artsakh, attempting to involve and utilize the international community and various organizations in this process. The organization of a solemn event on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Azerbaijan's UN membership in the occupied city of Shushi, as well as the participation of UN and its agency representatives in the event, is a further manifestation of this policy.

“The participation of UN representatives in an event in a location that has been a primary target of Azerbaijan’s aggression and anti-Armenian sentiment contradicts the principles, ideology, and mission of this esteemed international organization. This will undoubtedly be used by Azerbaijan for the purpose of legitimizing its inhumane and aggressive policies,” the Foreign Ministry's statement reads.

It is also noted that this is a serious blow to the reputation of the UN, which will negatively impact the effectiveness of the organization's operations. Additionally, Hikmet Hajiyev, assistant to the President of Azerbaijan, tweeted that “the UN flag will fly in liberated Shushi.” According to him, the 30th anniversary of Azerbaijan’s membership in the UN will be celebrated in Shushi with the institutions of this organization.
