Teams from Russia and Belarus Expelled from International Chess Competitions
The International Chess Federation has expelled the teams from Russia and Belarus from international competitions, including the World Olympiad and the World Team Championship, according to a statement from the organization's press service.
In individual competitions, representatives from Russia and Belarus will compete under a neutral status, with the FIDE flag.
Following the onset of military actions by Russian armed forces in Ukraine, the International Olympic Committee had urged international sports federations, sports organizations, and event organizers to deny the opportunity for Russian and Belarusian athletes and teams to participate in international competitions.
