Hooliganism with the Use of a Weapon in a Food Establishment

The Investigative Committee of Armenia is conducting necessary investigative and procedural actions in the Kotayk region to uncover the case of hooliganism involving the use of a weapon in a public food establishment.

According to preliminary data, on March 15, 2022, around 18:00, an unidentified individual committed gross violations of public order and displayed blatant disrespect towards society by firing a weapon at a 36-year-old resident of the village of Kaghsi at a public food establishment located at the 39th kilometer of the Yerevan-Sevan highway, causing bodily harm.

A criminal case has been initiated under part 4 of article 258 of the RA Criminal Code. The 36-year-old man has been recognized as the victim.

During the investigation, a hunting rifle bullet and a fired cartridge were discovered at the crime scene, along with blood-like traces. Samples have been collected, and the victim's clothing worn at the time of the incident has been seized, as well as video recordings from security cameras located in the food establishment. Several individuals have been interrogated.

To clarify significant circumstances related to the criminal case, forensic, ballistic, and traceological examinations have been appointed. The investigation is ongoing.

Measures are being taken to identify and locate the individual who allegedly committed the crime, to present them to the prosecuting authority, to recover the weapon used in the crime, and to verify the circumstances indicated in the testimonies. Instructions have been provided to the investigative body.
