Altercation Between Security Staff of Yerevan's 'Rio Mall' and Several Basketball Players
The Criminal Investigation Department of the Arabkir Police has initiated proceedings regarding an incident that occurred on March 14 in the Arabkir administrative district.
According to Shamshyan.com, the materials were prepared concerning a case of hooliganism. On that day, around 6:30 PM, the Arabkir Police received information that security staff at the 'Rio Mall' shopping center, located on Papazyan Street, had assaulted U.S. citizens who are athletes.
Arabkir Police, led by Chief Yervand Nikoyan, established that on that same day, around 5:30 PM, U.S. citizens, 26-year-old Robert Hobbs, 27-year-old Omega Harris, 29-year-old Benzel Mensah, and 24-year-old David Nicklberry, had grossly violated public order in the parking lot of the aforementioned shopping center by hitting the security staff with metal parking signs, causing bodily injury to 39-year-old Eduard Sahakyan, the head of security at the mall, 50-year-old Hakob Hakobyan, and 45-year-old Eduard Harutyunyan, both residents of Yerevan.
The U.S. citizens were taken to the Arabkir Police, where they provided explanations regarding the incident before being released. A forensic examination has been appointed.
According to G. Shamshyan's information, the detained U.S. citizens are athletes from the 'Erebuni' basketball club.
