Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister on Normalization of Relations with Armenia

Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov commented on the steps towards normalizing relations between Turkey and Armenia, as well as their new proposal for regulating relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, stating that these are significant examples of important measures taken by Turkey and Azerbaijan to normalize relations between countries in the region.

In an interview with the Turkish Anadolu agency, he noted that the biggest obstacle to relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan was “the occupation,” and since that factor has now disappeared, they have presented a new proposal for normalizing relations with Yerevan.

He also mentioned that Turkey has sent a message indicating its readiness to normalize relations with Armenia. “Azerbaijan fully supports this approach. This once again demonstrates that both Azerbaijan and Turkey are sincerely taking steps to establish lasting peace in the region. We view this positively,” the Azerbaijani diplomat stated.

He emphasized that Turkey and Azerbaijan are cooperating on this issue. “Armenia needs to understand correctly that the reason for the cooperation between Turkey and Azerbaijan is not to act against Armenia or any third country. Our goal is to achieve good results for both Turkey and Azerbaijan, as well as for Armenia and the entire region and to establish healthy relations,” Bayramov said. He added that it is incorrect to assume that what is good for Turkey and Azerbaijan is bad for Armenia. “If Armenia can change its approach, achieving positive results in this area will be more realistic. The desire of Azerbaijan and Turkey is sincere.”
