Fighting Continues in Kyiv Suburbs: City Has Only 1-2 Weeks of Food Supplies
In Kyiv, CNN’s journalistic teams reported that early this morning explosions were heard, while chief international correspondent Clarissa Ward described an "uninterrupted barrage" that lasted several minutes. It remains unclear whether the explosions were Russian or Ukrainian strikes.
Fighting continues in the suburbs of the Ukrainian capital. The city administration noted that northern areas remain the most dangerous, including the suburbs of Bucha, Irpin, and Hostomel, as well as the Vyshhorod neighborhood located north of Kyiv. The battles have intensified in Brovary, located to the east of the city across the Dnipro River.
“As Russian forces exert pressure from multiple directions, concerns are growing that the goal is to completely encircle the city, starve the city, bomb it, and then ultimately try to overthrow (Ukrainian President Volodymyr) Zelensky’s government,” Ward said. She added that “Ukrainian forces are everywhere in Kyiv.”
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko told CNN that the city currently has resources, including food and medical supplies, for only one to two weeks.
