US Continues Cooperation with Russia on Iran's Nuclear Program
Sanctions imposed due to the events in Ukraine against Russia should not hinder the implementation of the Iranian nuclear deal, provided that negotiations to restore it can be conducted, the State Department has stated.
“New sanctions related to Russia have no bearing on the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action concerning Iran’s nuclear program and should not affect its potential implementation,” said the spokesperson for the US Department of State.
He stated that the US continues to cooperate with Russia around Iran’s nuclear program. “Russia shares a common interest in ensuring that Iran never possesses nuclear weapons,” the statement added.
Negotiations to restore the nuclear deal are currently underway in Vienna, which, according to participants, have reached a conclusion.
