Armenian police prevent armed confrontation in Yerevan
On March 3, the officers of the Main Department of Criminal Police of the Republic of Armenia carried out a special operation in the capital, which allowed them to prevent a particularly serious crime.
As reported by Shamshyan.com, operational information was received indicating that a group of young people had gathered at 8/1 Erebuni Street in Yerevan and were engaging in an armed confrontation. It was suspected that they might be armed.
The report states that eight individuals were brought to the Erebuni police department under suspicion of illegally possessing weapons and narcotics from a car repair shop at the mentioned address.
According to G. Shamshyan, one of the individuals, upon seeing the police, pulled out a pistol from his waistband and threw it into a visible area of the room. The detained individuals include 27-year-old Ishkhan Tovmasyan, 33-year-old Davit Sahakyan, 25-year-old Petros Minasyan, 30-year-old Arthur Afrikyan, 30-year-old Ruben Hakobyan from Kotayk region, and 34-year-old Vardges Berakchyan from Jrvej village.
It was revealed that the person who threw the pistol is 35-year-old Artak Khachatryan, also a resident of Kotayk region. During a personal search, 1 charred syringe, 1 charred glass flask, and 1 folding knife were found on Ishkhan Tovmasyan. Similarly, a charred syringe and a charred glass flask were found on Arthur Afrikyan. The latter claimed that the discovered items belonged to them.
Materials are being prepared at the investigative department of the Erebuni police regarding the incident. The detainees were released, and based on the investigator's decision, forensic and forensic examinations were appointed.
