Natural Gas Prices to Increase

Natural Gas Prices to Increase

Starting from April 1, the price of gas for consumers will increase by 4.7 drams, setting the new price at 143.7 drams. Exempt from this increase are social welfare beneficiaries (those using up to 600 cubic meters of natural gas annually).

According to the decision of the Public Services Regulatory Commission, the gas price for socially vulnerable families will remain unchanged at 100 drams per cubic meter (including VAT).

For the rest of the population, the cost of gas will rise by 4.7 drams, increasing from the current 139 drams to 143.7 drams per cubic meter.

The commission has also established certain benefits for agricultural sector operators. Specifically, seasonal discounts have been set for greenhouse operations. During the heating season, from November 1 to March 31, they will pay the equivalent of $233.9 for 1,000 cubic meters of gas (approximately 114 drams per cubic meter based on the current dollar exchange rate).

During the remaining months of the year, greenhouse businesses will pay 143.7 drams per cubic meter, the same rate as ordinary consumers.

For processors in the agricultural sector—those involved in the production of canned goods, beverages, and dairy products—the gas price will remain unchanged throughout the year, at the equivalent of $233.9 for 1,000 cubic meters.

Other enterprises in Armenia, including power plants, will pay the established consumer rate of 143.7 drams for the first 10,000 cubic meters of natural gas. For any consumption over 10,000 cubic meters, the price will be $265.81 per 1,000 cubic meters (about 130 drams at today’s exchange rate).

For comparison, previously, larger consumers paid 139 drams per cubic meter for the first 10,000 cubic meters, and $255.91 per 1,000 cubic meters for any consumption above that limit.
