Ridiculous, Simplistic Hoax: Russian Defense Ministry Denies Hacker Attack Claims and Corrects Errors

The Russian Defense Ministry has denied reports that Anonymous hackers allegedly breached the ministry's website and 'stole' personal data of the ministry's employees.

“A ridiculous simplistic hoax. Personal data lists of military personnel and other staff of the Russian Defense Ministry are fundamentally not stored on the servers of the ministry’s website. This is simply prohibited by Russian law, which Ukrainians are unaware of,” the ministry stated.

“The stolen list of 'employees' causes nothing but smiles,” the ministry added, noting that one of the entries includes “Individual Entrepreneur Maslenkova Natalia Ivanovna,” for which the ministry clarified that the abbreviation (in Russian text: 'ИП', 'Индивидуальный предприниматель') means 'individual entrepreneur'. The ministry reported that the entire hardware and software of the Defense Ministry's internet portal operates within established parameters.
