Turkey Suspends Flights to Ukraine

Against the backdrop of military operations initiated by Russia, Turkish Airlines has suspended flights to Ukraine. This was announced by the company's CEO Bilal Ekşi. The news is reported by Ermenihaber.am.

Turkish sources indicate that Russia has begun ground and aerial military operations in Ukraine. There are also unofficial reports that Turkey is now attempting to evacuate its diplomats located in Ukraine. Additionally, the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has urged its citizens to leave Ukraine.

Previously, the Ukrainian embassy in Turkey had urged official Ankara to provide support to Kyiv. The statement specifically mentioned, “The Russian Federation has declared war on Ukraine. Peaceful Ukrainian cities are being bombed. We call on our strategic ally Turkey and the friendly Turkish people to help us during these difficult times,” the announcement stated.

It is noteworthy that Russian President Vladimir Putin announced in a video address to Russians at 5:50 AM that he had decided to initiate a special military operation in Donbas.
