What Armenian Citizens Heading to Work in Russia Should Know

The Russian Federation has tightened its migration legislation, stating that from December 29, 2021, foreign citizens entering Russia, including Armenian citizens, must undergo fingerprinting and photography, as well as mandatory medical examination. This was reported by the Armenian Migration Service.

According to the service, the mentioned procedures must be followed by:

  • Armenian citizens entering Russia for work (who have indicated 'work' as the purpose of visit in the migration card) for more than 90 days,
  • Individuals departing for non-work purposes, including family members of labor migrants,
  • Children over the age of 6.

However, the following categories are exempt from mandatory procedures:

  • Citizens of the Republic of Belarus,
  • Children under 6 years old,
  • Officials working in international organizations,
  • Heads and administrative and informational staff of foreign diplomatic representations and consulates in Russia.

Armenian citizens entering Russia for private visits (including family visits of labor migrants, medical treatment, pilgrimage, and other purposes) for less than 90 calendar days are not required to undergo the medical examination.
