VIDEO: Minister on Teaching Azerbaijani and Turkish Languages
Currently, there is no program in Armenian schools for teaching Azerbaijani and Turkish languages. This information was revealed by the Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports Vahram Dumanyan during a conversation with journalists.
“Armenia's strategic principle is to study regional languages, starting from schools. However, we are not planning to teach Azerbaijani in schools today. We are still discussing the possibility of teaching Georgian in some schools. Why are you focusing specifically on the Azerbaijani language?” the minister said.
He reminded that the Armenian language seems to be studied quite well in Azerbaijan.
It should be noted that the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports of Armenia has presented a public discussion on the “State Program for the Development of Education of the Republic of Armenia until 2030,” which mentions in the section on “improving educational standards and programs” that “the languages of neighboring countries” (Persian, Turkish, Georgian, Azerbaijani) will be taught in Armenian schools.
