Erdogan Expects Putin's Swift Visit to Turkey Due to the Situation Surrounding Ukraine

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has called Russian President Vladimir Putin and emphasized that the escalation of the issue, particularly the military conflict in Ukraine, is not beneficial for anyone. This information was reported by the Turkish President's office.

It was noted that Turkey is supportive of continuing diplomatic communications and negotiations. Erdogan expressed the opinion that the situation in Ukraine should be resolved based on the Minsk agreements.

The Turkish president also mentioned that he expects a swift visit from the Russian president to Turkey to participate in a high-level cooperation council meeting.

It is worth noting that the situation in Donbas has escalated in recent days, as the self-proclaimed DPR and LPR reported numerous shelling incidents by Ukrainian forces. The leaders of both republics also announced the temporary evacuation of civilians to the Rostov region due to the threat of a Ukrainian invasion.

On February 19, the leaders of the LPR and DPR signed decrees for a general mobilization and then appealed to Russia for recognition. The President of Russia signed decrees recognizing the LPR and DPR in the Kremlin.
