We Are Not Opposed to Meetings on Ukraine, But We Need to Know the Outcome Beforehand: Lavrov
French President Emmanuel Macron and Russian President Vladimir Putin have agreed during a phone conversation that the West will present its vision of the potential outcomes of summits regarding Ukraine. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov while summarizing the results of negotiations with Faisal Miqdad, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Syrian Arab Republic.
He added that Russia is not opposed to meetings on Ukraine in different formats, but it is important to understand what the outcome will be before any meetings take place.
“President Macron indeed expressed these topics during yesterday's two conversations with President Putin. However, President Putin has explained very clearly—and has done so several times—that we are not against summits, we are not against meetings, but before meeting, especially in such a tense atmosphere, it is crucial to understand what will be the outcome of these summits and meetings,” Lavrov said.
