Another Falsehood: Edmon Marukyan Refutes Important Information

The President of the Bright Armenia party, Edmon Marukyan, has denied claims that during a National Security Council meeting in December 2020, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced the intention to hand over the Dzilapait peak, as well as Khtsaberd and Hin Tagher.

Marukyan states that no such discussions took place during any meetings or sessions involving their participation. He shared a post on Facebook saying,

“Another falsehood. Sophia Hovsepyan stated on the air of Channel 5 that at the National Security Council meeting in December 2020, where a representative of the Bright Armenia faction (referring to myself) was present (by the way, Arman Abovyan, a representative from the Prosperous Armenia faction, was also present at the same meetings), Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan allegedly announced the intention to hand over the Dzilapait peak, as well as Khtsaberd and Hin Tagher.

I officially declare that no such discussion occurred during any meeting or session with our participation, meaning that the statement is, of course, false. It is entirely unclear why Sophia Hovsepyan spreads such false information and what agenda is being served by the Telegram channels and websites that actively disseminate this lie.

It is surprising to hear accusations from Sophia Hovsepyan in the post-war period, as she left the ruling My Step faction only on January 9, 2021. This means that she shares joint responsibility with every member of My Step for both the pre-war period, the course of the war, and the post-war period.

We also are confident that if we had not lost the war, Madam Hovsepyan would still be a member of the ruling force and would enjoy the benefits of power.”
