The Beijing Olympic Games Conclude: Results Published
The 24th Winter Olympic Games have concluded in Beijing, where Norway's Olympic team dominated the medal tally, winning 16 gold, 8 silver, and 13 bronze medals, totaling 37 medals, just like in the 2018 games.
Germany secured the second position in the team standings with 12 gold, 10 silver, and 5 bronze medals, totaling 27 medals. Interestingly, the Germans were also second during the 2018 Winter Olympic Games.
The medal ranking was rounded out by the host country, China, whose athletes amassed 9 gold, 4 silver, and 2 bronze medals, bringing their total to 15.
Other countries in the top ten include the United States, Sweden, the Netherlands, Austria, Switzerland, the Olympic Committee of Russia, and France. It's noteworthy that the Russian Olympic Committee team ranks second in terms of total medals with 32, but in terms of gold medals — the primary metric — they only won 6, placing them 9th in the team standings.
In total, out of 91 countries participating in the 2022 Winter Olympic Games, 27 secured medals.
Among Armenia's team members, Mikayel Mikayelyan placed 47th among 70 skiers in the 30 km skiathlon, while in the 15 km cross-country skiing (classical style), he finished 61st out of 99 athletes. Skier Katya Galstyan ranked 80th among 91 participants in the sprint (1500 m) event. In the 10 km cross-country skiing (classical style), Katya Galstyan finished 74th out of 98 participants, while Angelina Muradyan came in 94th.
In the ice dancing event, the pair Tina Karapetyan and Simon Senecal ranked 18th out of 20 dance pairs.
Let us remind that the 25th Winter Olympic Games will take place in February 2026 in the Italian cities of Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo.
