Frenchman Accidentally Disrupts Internet for Entire Town
A Frenchman accidentally cut off internet access for all residents of the municipality of Mesang (Landes department) while trying to limit internet access for his children. This was reported by the National Frequency Agency.
According to 3dnews.ru, which cited Agence nationale des fréquences, the resident believed that during the pandemic, his children had developed an addiction to the internet and social networks. He found a solution to the problem on one of the online forums, where he was advised to purchase signal jamming devices.
The man bought the devices and began using them every night from midnight to 3 AM. As a result, the jamming devices limited not only internet access but also mobile phone service. The effect was so significant that it disrupted communication in a neighboring village as well. Authorities conducted an investigation and seized the equipment.
In France, the use of jamming devices is prohibited. The man now faces a fine of up to €30,000 or up to 6 months in jail. The case will be heard in court. The agency has already prepared a violation report and charged €450 for remediation work.
