Car Accident in Kotayk Region: Vehicle Crashes into Gas Pipeline and Overturns

On February 20th, a major car accident occurred in the Kotayk region. Around 1:30 AM, 38-year-old Edgar Pstikyan, a resident of Yerevan, lost control of his Toyota while driving on the 4th km of the Ashtarak-Yerevan highway, veering off the road, crashing into a gas pipeline, and ending up overturned outside the traffic lane.

As reported by photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, a firefighting and rescue team from the Ministry of Emergency Situations arrived promptly at the scene with one combat unit. The rescuers disconnected the vehicle's power, closed the gas cylinder, and cordoned off the area. A medical response team also arrived quickly, but the driver declined medical assistance, stating that he was unhurt.

Road police from the second battalion's third squad also arrived at the scene, led by squad commander Arthur Petrosyan and platoon commander Tigran Kotanjyan. Senior investigator Avetik Avetisyan from the same squad directed the investigative work, and materials are being prepared regarding the incident.
