I am convinced I will not be alone there: Davit Amalyan

Singer, songwriter, and freedom fighter Davit Amalyan has made a statement regarding the potential participation of an Azerbaijani delegation in the meetings of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) in Yerevan. Amalyan stated that he cannot refrain from protesting against this phenomenon, as a grateful person born Armenian, while remaining loyal to his ‘non-public, non-political principle.’

“It would be superfluous to mention again what a dream and bliss peace is for me... And the reason I started my statement with my dream of peace will become clear shortly. I would also consider it unnecessary to list what I have sacrificed for peace, from welfare to lives, which, believe me, are more precious than my own... I will say that nothing has changed in the colorful aspect of my dream; I still have the same desire I have always had, only I must sadly note that peace is never given freely; it is earned. And if you try to beg for it, what you receive in return is a defeat masked with a ‘peace’ package, which is harsher than war, more state-destroying, more nation-destroying, more humanity-destroying, and more hellish...”

“What can we do... If we knew that even begging for ‘peace’ could save personal lives, we might become afflicted with a selfish disease and try to save our families through a unique Armenian emigration, but unfortunately, I must sadden those who suffer from this infection, as it is not a solution, considering that being Armenian is not a choice made by you, but a heavenly decision you were born into, for which our ‘beloved’ enemies, and sadly not only the enemies, are not so happy... Unfortunately, it seems that among those born Armenians, there are also people who are not as pleased to be Armenian as our enemies and ‘non-enemies’ are, and who spare no effort to be deemed worthy, so that we all earn the begged ‘peaceful’ defeat....

Anyway... I will move to the main topic... I have never been and will never be publicly active, much less politically, but for some reason, I cannot stay silent about the latest news I heard, that some European parliamentary assembly is set to take place in Armenia, which will also include the Azerbaijani delegation that has yet to wash the defeat it has thrown at us, along with other ‘non-enemy’ states' delegations. Remaining true to my non-public, non-political principles, I cannot refrain from resisting this phenomenon, as a grateful person born Armenian... As a form of resistance, I have decided to at least be present where this ‘humanitarian’ ‘whatever committee’ is supposed to take place... Well, don’t we have any questions to raise with our ‘friends’ and the international community?.... Don’t we have any demands to voice?... And no matter how much I understand that, unfortunately, our spoon is temporarily paper once again, I still consider the way to make it iron to let those delegations understand that, unlike you smiling out of fear and those who are unhappy to be Armenian, we have questions for you.... According to the information I have received, this so-called meeting is supposed to take place on February 22 at 12:00 PM at the Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concert Complex. I hope this issue has not only bothered me, and I am convinced that I will not be alone there on that day.... We will not be alone...”
