Robert Kocharian on Pashinyan's Statement
“A man who has never said a single correct word has made a statement, and no one has tried to read that document to understand whether this man is lying again or has ever told the truth in his entire life.” This was stated by the second President of Armenia, Robert Kocharian, at a press conference addressing Pashinyan's announcement that Armenia has recognized Azerbaijan's territorial integrity.
It should be noted that the authorities and opponents of Robert Kocharian have recently pointed out that by signing the document at the OSCE summit in Istanbul in 1999, Kocharian also recognized Azerbaijan's territorial integrity. “I was the one who signed that document. That man is lying. The Istanbul document was one of our most serious diplomatic victories during those years. I would simply suggest all those who are interested in politics and, in general, the resolution of the Artsakh issue, to read the first 48 pages of that document, where there is reference to all post-Soviet conflicts,” Kocharian noted, adding that in the document regarding all conflicts, it is written, ‘we respect the territorial integrity of these countries, and the issue should be resolved within the framework of the territorial integrity of these countries,’ and only in the passage regarding the resolution of the Artsakh issue is there nothing mentioned about Azerbaijan's territorial integrity.
“Imagine the degree to which our diplomacy and negotiation process had reached that after Lisbon, where Azerbaijan's territorial integrity was emphasized and Ter-Petrosyan used his veto right, in Istanbul we received a document that, unlike other conflicts, did not have such a mention,” Kocharian emphasized.
