Possibilities Related to Unblocking Are Visible: Mher Grigoryan

Opportunities for unblocking transport and economic ties in the region, particularly the opening of the railway, are visible. Mher Grigoryan, the Deputy Prime Minister, stated this during a briefing with journalists in Vanadzor, commenting on the Prime Minister's remarks regarding the Yereaskh-Jolfa-Ordubad-Meghri-Horadiz railway.

According to the Deputy Prime Minister, there are currently no new agreements, but in any case, arrangements regarding the issue will be formalized in writing according to legal requirements. 'There are general symmetric understandings that the opportunities related to unblocking, particularly the opening of the railway, are visible, and thus, of course, there must also be a written formulation of the agreement before starting such measures as the investments are significant and imply a formalization of the agreement,' said Mher Grigoryan.

To the question of whether there are specific agreements at this moment, the Deputy Prime Minister responded that there have been official statements regarding all agreements so far. Mher Grigoryan referred to the agreement reached between the Prime Minister of Armenia and the President of Azerbaijan in Sochi on November 26, 2021, mediated by the President of Russia, and reaffirmed on December 14, 2021, in Brussels under the mediation of the President of the European Council regarding the resumption of the railway.

'The Brussels statement specifically indicates the agreements and the approaches of the parties concerning the railway,' the Deputy Prime Minister commented.
