Work is Underway to Create a Shelter for Stray Animals in Gyumri: What is the Situation?
Human rights defender Karapet Poghosyan writes on his Facebook page, "A group of animal lovers has approached me, concerned about the inhumane statements made by the Governor of Shirak Region and the brutal treatment of animals in Gyumri in recent days... Considering the 'man-eating' type of the ruling political force, the sequence of actions, as well as the citizens' anxiety, I have had phone calls today with the responsible officials from the Police Department of Gyumri's Mush and Kumari regions, who assured me that they are currently preparing materials and will inform about the results in the coming days. Naturally, we will also maintain vigilance.
I also spoke with the Mayor of Gyumri, who informed me that work is underway to establish a shelter for stray animals in Gyumri. We have reached an agreement with the Mayor of Gyumri to hold a discussion on this issue on February 18 of this year at 16:30. You can contact our office in advance to participate.
Recall that on Saturday and Sunday in Gyumri, dogs with decapitated and dismembered bodies were discovered, and today, a dog was found in a half-dead state with gunshot wounds.
