Putin Receives State Duma's Application: Peskov Clarifies

Russian President Vladimir Putin has received the State Duma's application regarding the recognition of the self-proclaimed LPR, announced Dmitry Peskov, the spokesperson for the Russian president.

"There is no comment on this matter; the president has received the application, he has acknowledged it," said the Kremlin representative. Peskov believes the document is a vivid indicator of the disposition of parliamentarians and society.

"But the president has emphasized that the main goal is to assist in resolving the situation in the southeast (Ukraine), which can be achieved by facilitating the implementation of the Minsk agreements in every possible way. This is where the president will focus his efforts," concluded Peskov.

On Tuesday, the State Duma voted in favor of the application directed to the president regarding the need to recognize the Donbas republics. The leaders of the LPR and DPR, Denis Pushilin and Leonid Pasechnik, welcomed this decision.

During a press conference with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Putin stated that Moscow is ready to do everything for resolving the issues in the region and noted that the potential of the Minsk agreements has not yet been exhausted.
