The Investigative Committee of the National Assembly Should Be Led by a Representative of the Opposition, Ghazinyan

Member of the 'Hayastan' faction, Arthur Ghazinyan, wrote on his Facebook page: 'The decision of the authorities to create a committee to investigate the circumstances of the 44-day war is overdue. It should have been established back in August of the previous year. Over the past 7 months, they could have completely eliminated all traces of the crimes committed by the political and military leadership before, during, and after the war, altered documents, supplemented them, or removed substantial evidence of state treason.'

'The circumstances of the 44-day war must be examined in the criminal-legal sphere through a comprehensive, multi-faceted, and objective pre-trial investigation, which has been consistently rejected by the authorities. At least 6 reports of state treason have been submitted to the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia, none of which have led to a criminal case being opened.'

'Such large-scale cases are not investigated in the political arena, and the National Assembly's Investigative Committee is intended to carry out parliamentary oversight of the completed pre-trial investigation, to dispel the doubts accumulated within the political opposition and to provide public trust in the results of the investigation.'

Note: The Investigative Committee of the National Assembly should be led by a representative of the opposition, as a person suspected of state treason and Turkish spying cannot lead the investigation into state treason.'
