Zelensky Requests Financial and Military Aid from Biden

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, has suggested to his American counterpart Joe Biden to visit Ukraine as soon as possible. According to a report by CNN on Sunday, citing sources from the Ukrainian government, a positive response from the American administration has not been received.

The White House has not yet released Biden's reaction to the invitation to visit Ukraine. According to TASS, an unnamed representative from the White House noted that Biden's visit seems unlikely. Zelensky stated that additional American assistance would demonstrate Western support for Ukraine and, moreover, show that Russia's invasion of Ukraine would be futile.

Both Zelensky and Biden emphasized the necessity of resolving the issue of Ukraine through diplomatic means during their conversation. The two presidents expressed the opinion that there needs to be restraint regarding the strengthening of the Russian military near Ukraine's borders.

This phone conversation between Zelensky and Biden marks the third in 2022. Earlier this year, the presidents of Ukraine and the United States spoke via phone at the beginning and at the end of January.
