VIDEO: American Submarine Intrudes Deeply into Russian Territory – What Shoigu Reports to Putin

During exercises of the Pacific Fleet near the Kuril Island of Urup, a submarine, reportedly American, was detected. Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu reported this to President Vladimir Putin, according to ria.ru.

He stated that the submarine had entered the country's waters at a considerable depth of over four kilometers. Earlier, the Defense Ministry had announced the discovery of a U.S. Virginia-class submarine within Russian waters. The crew was issued a demand to surface in both Russian and English, but they ignored it.

Subsequently, the Marshal Shaposhnikov took appropriate measures, and the submarine left Russian waters at maximum speed. A note of protest was delivered to the U.S. military attaché in Moscow. The Defense Ministry emphasized that the actions of the American side are regarded as a gross violation of international legal norms, and reminded that Russia reserves the right to take all necessary measures to ensure state security in its territorial waters.
